除恶务尽的典故

公元前494年，吴王夫差率军在夫椒大败越王勾践，并破了越国的首都。越王勾践派大夫文种向吴国求和，吴王准备答应。伍子胥劝吴王“树德务滋，除恶务尽。”吴王不听他的建议，除恶未尽结果在20年后被勾践所消灭。
