素面朝天的成语故事

基本解释天：是指皇上。不施脂粉而朝见皇帝。现在多指女人既美貌又自信，不需要化妆就敢出头露面。

出处宋 乐史 《杨太真外传》卷上：“(唐玄宗)封大姨为 韩国夫人 ，三姨为 虢国夫人 ，八姨为 秦国夫人 。同日拜命，皆月给钱十万，为脂粉之资。然 虢国 不施粧粉，自衒美艷，常素面朝天。”

素面朝天的典故

唐朝杨玉环的姐姐虢国夫人，也是天生丽质，对自己的美貌十分自信，从来不在化妆品上浪费钱。即使进宫觐见唐玄宗，也只是淡淡地化一下眉毛而已。

一个叫张古的人看不下去了。他想：你一个虢国夫人老往皇宫跑，有什么企图？就算你没什么企图，面见圣上，大宝总得抹一点吧。张古越想越有气，就写了一首诗，对这事进行嘲讽。诗的题目叫《集灵台二》，诗是这么写的：

虢国夫人承主恩，平明骑马入宫门。却嫌脂粉污颜色，淡扫蛾眉朝至尊。

从此，就有了素面朝天这个成语，这里的“天”不是天空，而是指天子。素面朝天是指女人既美貌又自信，不需要化妆就敢出头露面。
