天花乱坠的典故

两晋南北朝时佛教盛行，全国有寺庙3万多所，僧尼200多万。

南朝的梁武帝带头求神拜佛，在全国大建寺庙。他曾经三次舍身同泰寺，他还聘请古印度僧人波罗末到中国讲经。波罗末翻译了不少印度佛经，并培养了许多中国弟子。有了经书，讲经的风气更加兴盛。为了宣传民众，佛教徒编了许许多多讲经的传说。其中一则是：云光法师讲经，感动了上天，天上的鲜花纷纷坠落。

后来，佛教在中国分成许多宗派，影响最大的是“禅宗”。宋真宗时，道原和尚编了一本《景德传灯录》，记载了禅宗师徒的故事。书中讲到对佛意要真正领会，反对“讲得天花乱坠”
