长林丰草的典故

嵇康是魏晋人，一心向往田园生活。 嵇康很有君子气概，他的朋友王戎说：“我和嵇康相处二十多年了，从来没见过有什么事能使他高兴或者生气的。”

嵇康家道清贫，常常靠打铁来补贴家用，有一次权贵钟会来拜访他，嵇康在树下挥锤如故，钟会等了很久只得离去。

朋友山涛向朝廷推荐他出来做官，稽康写了篇绝交信，来表示自己的心志。他说“就像那麋鹿，从没有被驯服过，如果让它出来见人，时间长了它就会显露出桀骜的本性来，挣脱缰绳，到处狂奔，干出赴汤蹈火的事来。虽然它身上披着金镳玉辔，享受着美味佳肴，可是却常常思念那长林丰草。”
