释慧空（一○九六～一一五八），号东山，俗姓陈，福州（今属福建）人。年十四出家，初学于圆悟、六祖，后至疏山，为南岳下十四世，泐潭清禅师法嗣。高宗绍兴二十三年（一一五三），住福州雪峰禅院，次年退归东庵。二十八年卒，年六十三（《五灯会元》卷一八、《东山慧空禅师语录跋》）。有《东山慧空禅师语录》、《雪峰空和尚外集》传世。 释慧空诗，以续藏经本《东山慧空禅师语录跋》及日本旧刻《雪峰空和尚外集》（今藏北京图书馆）为底本，编为二卷。
