刘永济(1887一1966) ，男，字弘度，宏度，号诵帚，晚年号知秋翁，室名易简斋，晚年更名微睇室、诵帚庵，湖南省新宁县人。1911年就读于清华大学。1916年毕业于清华大学语文系。历任长沙中学教师，沈阳东北大学教授，武昌武汉大学教授兼文学院院长，浙江大学、湖南大学及武汉大学语文系教授、文学史教研组主任。湖南文联副主席，中国作家协会武汉分会理事。《文学评论》编委。1919年开始发表作品。1955年加入中国作家协会。
