羲皇以后几岁月，史书纪载皆陈迹。读书尚友多古人，胡为独取陶彭泽。
况无武陵桃花源，又无五柳先生宅。人物都无晋代风，题名何用陶为额。
我闻此语悠然思，遥遥千载尊诗伯。古今异世乐趣同，难分是非论黑白。
谓予唐突古名贤，骇闻令我孱颜赤。鸟倦飞时始入林，宁能复展乘风翮。
家有杜康酒无算，地与刘伶分一席。维持风雅在吾侪，尚存一息须为力。
此事非求身后名，知人论世毋过刻。吾侪不少素心人，荣誉不争争品格。
不才伏处城南隅，衰病逡巡鲜所获。独往独来年复年，窃叹光阴如过客。
平生爱读靖节诗，读罢时还顶礼百。愿刊万本施万人，尽知廉让忧方释。
此时发轫赖扶持，诸贤讨论无虚夕。说理须范朱丝绳，量材须执玉界尺。
希踪栗里不敢期，栽培松菊吾侪责。西畴南亩日操劳，繄维君子甘于役。

字丹卿，号颜丞，出身望族，十九岁中秀才，光绪廿八年中举，翌年登进士。选为吏部文选主事。目睹清廷腐败，以祖母病乞归。任江阴劝学所所长，致力于地方教育和实业事业。大力发展城乡教育。辛亥革命参加同盟会，任分部部长。民国十三年，发起成立陶社，刊印江上诗钞、先哲遗书二十馀种。为传承与发展文化作出了贡献。沦陷时期，日伪威胁利诱，主持维持会，均遭其严词拒绝。民国廿八年卒。
