（380—435）南朝宋琅邪临沂人，字休泰。王伟之子。家贫，好史籍，博涉多闻。因得父旧书，撰《晋安帝阳秋》，时人谓宜居史职，除著作佐郎，使续后事，书论晋安帝义熙九年。受刘裕(宋武帝)密令，毒死安帝。恭帝即位，迁黄门侍郎，领著作郎、西省事，凡诸诏令，皆出其手。入宋，仍掌史事。少帝时，迁侍中，出为吴郡太守。所撰宗庙歌辞、《孝传》等皆佚。
