子云性嗜酒，家贫无由得，
时赖好事人，载醪祛所惑。
觞来为之尽，是谘无不塞。
有时不肯言，岂不在伐国。
仁者用其心，何尝失显默。

译文
杨雄生来好酒，家贫不能常得。
只能依靠那些喜好追求古事的人，带着酒肴向陶渊明请教释惑，才能有酒喝。
有酒就饮尽，有疑难问题都能解答。
当然，你问攻伐别国的计谋，不肯说。
因为仁者考虑问题郑重认真，当言则言，不当言则不言。
注释
时：常常。赖：依赖，依靠。好（hào）事人：本指喜欢多事的人，这里指勤学好问之人。载醪（láo）：带着酒。祛所惑：解除疑惑问题。《汉书·扬雄传》说扬雄“家素贫，耆（嗜）酒，人希至其门。时有好事者载酒肴从游学”。
是谘（zī）：凡是所询问的。无不塞：无不得到满意的答复。塞，充实，充满。
伐国：《汉书·董仲舒传》：“闻昔者鲁公问柳下惠：‘吾欲伐齐，如何？’柳下惠曰：‘不可。’归而有忧色，曰：’吾闻伐国不问仁人，此言何为至于我哉！’”渊明用此典故代指国家的政治之事。
用其心：谓谨慎小心，仔细考虑。失：过失，失误。显默：显达与寂寞，指出仕与归隐。
畴昔：往昔，过去。

陶渊明（约365年—427年），字元亮，（又一说名潜，字渊明）号五柳先生，私谥“靖节”，东晋末期南朝宋初期诗人、文学家、辞赋家、散文家。汉族，东晋浔阳柴桑人（今江西九江）。曾做过几年小官，后辞官回家，从此隐居，田园生活是陶渊明诗的主要题材，相关作品有《饮酒》、《归园田居》、《桃花源记》、《五柳先生传》、《归去来兮辞》等。
