洛阳人，字无愧。赵良规子。第进士。知武强县，历开封府推官。哲宗时擢给事中，论蔡确、章惇有罪不宜复职，苏轼宜留在朝。进刑部侍郎、枢密都承旨，拜御史中丞。后随人俯仰，遇贾易劾苏轼题诗怨谤，亦附而诋之。绍圣中贬少府少监，分司南京。卒年七十二。
