庐陵(今吉安)人。南宋学者。举人。学识渊博，著《文苑英华辨证》十卷。《文苑英华》为北宋官修大类书，共一千卷，号为词翰渊薮，然矛盾差错实多。与周必大合作详议，校雠考订，编成其书。对原书考订三原则：沿袭错讹当改、别有依据不可妄改、义可两存不必轻改。其谨严态度值得重视。
