苏州府昆山人，一作吴县人，字道华。嘉靖二十六年进士。授大理寺评事，数迁为江西按察佥事，屡治严嵩家奴横行及藩王不法事。以治绩荐，严嵩衔其不附己，不予升迁。久之，始迁广西布政司参议，再迁四川按察副使。以徙地愈远，遂遁归。隆庆初卒，年五十四。有《章玄峰集》。
