明苏州府吴县人，字士贞，号商谷。师文徵明，善书画。工诗。家本业织，籍隶织局。织监孙隆召之见，不往。隆怒，诬以欠官帑，拘系，破其家。乃僦居于半塘，吟咏自如。或绝粮，则晨起画疏松远岫一幅，令僮子易米以炊。后终穷死。有《牧逐集》。
